Cars and Coffee Detroit

So I have never been to a Cars and Coffee. I am at college south of Detroit and I noticed they had one. I tried to look up information online and it proved fruitless. Does anyone know anything or have they gone to the show. When is it, where is it? Stuff like that would be good to know before I drive an hour and a half to Detroit. Thanks Opp!

Detroit Jalop here, hate to be the bearer of bad news but the C&C Detroit won't start back up until you'll most likely be on summer break :(

They haven't announced it officially yet but it usually doesn't get rollin until ~late may early June. They did one winter meet last winter and only 2-3 cars showed up since nobody wanted to take exotics/classics etc... out on the icy/snowy/SALTY roads.

Just wanted to give you a lil FYI/update. Kart2Kart in Sterling Heights has started up there Cars, Coffee, and Karts again (missed it by 3 days at this point... sorry bout that), so for the rest of the spring/summer it'll be the first saturday of each month from 8am-noon. Next one is in June so... still no-dice for you I supposed but keep it in mind for the fall! I'll be at most of them since I live extremely close to there, be sure to see me, I'll either be in my light blue with white interior 69 Camaro RS/SS or a Dodge/Chryco vehicle (usually an SRT of some kind) on mmanufacturers plates (it's good to know people "in high places" around town haha).

Wow very surprised you remembered this post. Sterling Heights is over 2 hours from my college campus so I'm not sure I'll be able to go to those car shows. Thanks for the tip though and checking back on me over 2 months after the post was created!

I have a good memory, and I'm extra helpful to people not from the area. Hell, since it's so far if you want to crash on my couch that's totally cool with me. Shoot me an email at egoods @ gmail.com and we can hammer down the details if you're interested.... the Kart2Kart C&C is the best I've ever been to (beats philly and the other Detroit CC). Plus, you get to look at kick ass cars, then go race on an epic kart track. Anywho, thought I'd at least offer.

This one runs 8am-Noon, but they have discounted races and what not at the indoor karting track so they tend to run longer. If you're crashin here come the night before (note sure if you're 21 or not but we can go grab a drink or whatever that night). What school are you coming from (You said south of Detroit so... U of T? or maybe U of M?) I travel this area quite extensively and can get you the fastest routes (there's a crap ton of closures...).

I've hosted couchsurfers in the past (and a few Jalops, though none recently), I know my way around here very well and can give you a few things you may want to see/do while you're in the area (some Jalop stuff, some not so Jalop). Just gimme like a week or two heads up so I don't make other plans.

Actually if it does't end until noon or so I think it might be more in my ability to drive up on my own next semester. I was thinking I would have to get up at 4 or 5 just to not miss the show. Now I gotta ask I am coming from BG and have been to Detroit twice. Is Sterling heights a bad area? I know that is being stereotypical but as a kid who came from the country I am not a huge fan of cities. They stress me out.

Haha, no worries man, and no need to fear, Sterling Heights is very much the "suburbs", it's also regularly in the top 10 safest cities in the country... I can't remember the last time I locked my car door or my front door for that matter. Good rule of thumb, if the city is called anything but "Detroit" it's probably extremely safe (except for Pontiac, and a few places down river). We're odd in that the poverty/crime literally makes a dead-stop at 8-mile (the Detroit/Wayne county northern boarder).

Shoot me an email and I'll be more than happy to whip up a loose plan for you, since you're coming all the way from BG I'd encourage you to stay the whole weekend and let me show you around the area. I have to be careful getting into specifics on here thanks to my job, lest someone connect the dots and yeah I prefer a degree of anonymity on Oppo/Jalopnik.
